Is influenced by Hindu culture. On this day, sisters of all ages tie a talisman or talisman, called a Rakhi, around their brothers’ wrists, symbolically protect them, receive gifts in return, and traditionally take responsibility for their potential Invest brothers with. Care.
Festival Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the last day of the Hindu lunar calendar month of Shravan, which usually falls in August. “Raksha Bandhan,” Sanskrit, literally, “bond of protection, obligation or care”, now mainly applies to this ritual. By the middle of the 20th century, the expression was similarly applied to a similar ritual, also held on the same day, with precedence in ancient Hindu texts, including a domestic priest on a talisman, charm, or on his wrist Ties threads. Patrons, or alter their sacred thread, and receive gifts of wealth; In some places, this is still the case. Conversely, sister-brother festivals, with origins in folk culture, had names that varied with place, some of which were presented as saluno, ceylon, and Rakhi. To mark their relationship, on the morning of Raksha Bandhan, sisters and brothers will gather with their family. Often in front of a lamp, the sister ties a rakhi (thread) to her brother’s right wrist. It symbolizes their emotional bond and renews the brother’s pledge to protect his sister.
Rakhi can also be used to celebrate other relationships between friends and neighbors. It is said that giving a rakhi to a girl is a polite way for someone of the opposite sex to make unwanted romantic advances in the friend-zone.
Rakhi is often made of silk with gold and silver threads, and can be decorated with sequins and semi-precious stones.
In Indian history, Rakhi has been used to strengthen states and form alliances. One of the oldest stories related to Rakhis is when Alexander the Great was undertaking his invasion of the subcontinent of India in the 32nd BCE. Confronting the powerful King Porus, it is said that Alexander’s wife approached Porus and tied a rakhi on her hand to ensure her husband’s safety. 🌼🌸❀✿🌷 Best Wishes for Raksha Bandhan 2020 🌼🌸❀✿🌷
Origin of Festival Raksha Bandhan
The festival of Raksha Bandhan dates back centuries and there are many stories related to the celebration of this special festival. Some of the various accounts related to Hindu mythology are described below:
According to the ancient legend of Indra Dev and Sachi-Bhavya Purana, there was once a fierce battle between gods and demons. Lord Indra – the god of the sky, Varsha and Vajra who were fighting the battle on behalf of the gods, faced tough resistance from the powerful demon king, Bali. The war continued for a long time and did not come to a decisive end. Seeing this, Indra’s wife Saachi went to Lord Vishnu, who gave him a sacred bracelet made of a cotton thread.
Saachi tied the sacred thread around the wrist of her husband Lord Indra, who eventually defeated the demons and reclaimed Amravati. The first account of the festival described these sacred threads in amulets used by women for prayer and tied to their husbands when they were leaving for war. Unlike the present day, those sacred sutras were not limited to brother-sister relationships. 🌼🌸❀✿🌷 Best Wishes for Raksha Bandhan 2020 🌼🌸❀✿🌷

Prabhu accepts the request and starts living with the demon king. However, Goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu, wanted to visit Vaikuntha, her ancestral home. Therefore, he tied a rakhi on the wrist of the demon king, Bali and made him a brother. Asked about the return gift, Goddess Lakshmi asks Bali to free her husband from the vow and return to Vaikuntha. Bali agreed to the request and Lord Vishnu returned to his place with his consort Goddess Lakshmi. 🌼🌸❀✿🌷 Best Wishes for Raksha Bandhan 2020 🌼🌸❀✿🌷

Krishna and Draupadi – Based on an article in the Mahabharata, Draupadi, the wife of the Pandavas, tied a rakhi to Lord Krishna, while Kunti tied a rakhi to grandson Abhimanyu before the epic battle.
Yama and Yamuna- Another legend states that Yama, the god of death, did not meet his sister Yamuna for a period of 12 years which eventually became very sad. On Ganga’s advice, Yama goes to meet his sister Yamuna, who is overjoyed and offers hospitality to her brother Yama. This pleased Yama who asked for a gift from Yamuna. He expressed a desire to see his brother again and again. Hearing this, Yama made his sister, Yamuna, immortal so that he could see her again and again. This mythological episode is the basis of the festival named “Bhai Dooj” which is also based on the brother-sister relationship. 🌼🌸❀✿🌷 Best Wishes for Raksha Bandhan 2020 🌼🌸❀✿🌷
How to celebrate Raksha Bandhan Festival
A few days before Raksha Bandhan, the sisters shop from one place to another in search of striking rakhi and sweets for their brothers. They also buy other things that are required for the ritual such as roli chawal, pooja thali, coconut, etc. The brothers, on the other hand, buy gifts for their sisters.
On the day of Raksha Bandhan, all the people get up early and take a bath. They then worship and perform aarti to the gods. Then, the sisters apply roli and chawal tilak on their brothers’ foreheads, tie rakhi to them and give them sweets to eat. The brothers give gifts to their sisters and they both dine together. 🌼🌸❀✿🌷 Best Wishes for Raksha Bandhan 2020 🌼🌸❀✿🌷
